About Jeffers

I started my photography journey in 1960 with an aging 1936 Leica IIIA camera.  Over the years, I have mastered different darkroom techniques to develop photos based on 35mm and 120mm films,   In the mid-80s, my family and I left China behind and immigrated to the USA to start a new life.  To make the ends meet, I had to give up my beloved hobby and worked as a project engineer for a large American manufacturing company in Missouri until my retirement in 2001.  After moving to CA, I picked up my old hobby again in the late 2000s and begin to experiment with something I knew nothing about: digital photography and computer photo editing.  Even though the learning curve was really steep,  but I have rediscovered the joy of photography again.  With the newer technology, now I can create something really unique and different.

Mr. Leon Lee is a Chicago-based renowned photographer whose works have been exhibited in different countries around the world and have been included in the Harvard University art collection.  Here is what Mr. Lee said about my work:

“Jeffers Chiang has been my friend for over 30 years and literally a mentor kind of figure in the beginning of my fine art photography.  His taste and his insight of landscape photography is among the best I have seen…….”

".....you can see that he actually experimented with PS to create special effects more than any of us.  I am sure you'll notice his love for pictorialism as many of them can easily relate to paintings and therefore look highly "picturesque".
